Just no

DO NOT RENT HERE! Oh where to begin. Well there’s the Parvo outbreak that killed our dog because the apartment failed to track the dogs coming in. That still is very alive in the dog park. There’s the fact that when we moved in they forgot to get the apartment ready, so we had to scrape paint off the floor, mud off the toilet and the bathroom, and nothing worked. The heater and AC didn’t work, the water heater didn’t work, and the disposal, which still doesn’t work. Our car got broken into in there “safe” garage. The management team is incompetent and does not stick to what they say and will lie their heads off and do everything to screw you over. My husband and I were super excited about this place, right in the city, dog friendly. Now we can not wait until our lease end. BUT WAIT, there’s more. Once your lease ends, they make sure they screw you over enough that you can’t even move out when it ends. Even though they had months of notice about our move out, but when the management team switched they were unwilling to work with us and are making us pay and extra 15 days AFTER out lease ends. Save yourself the money and the heartache and go somewhere else.

They Will Kill Your Dogs

Please don't move here. The management is unreliable and they have not written anything down, meaning "they can't prove that we've had conversations in the past." If you're planning on renting here, please make sure to write down every single conversation or they will find a way to screw you over. Maintenance is really good when they actually get the request. There seems to be a lack of communication between them and the management. Last thing that's most important. If you have a small dog, do not move here. They had a parvo outbreak two months ago. It is a disease that kills ninety percent of dogs that get it. Dogs under two years old are susceptible, especially if they have black or brown fur. The apartment hasn't taken measures to clean it up, so we're all just suffering. Please do not move here. It is not worth the headache.

DO NOT MOVE HERE!!!

DO NOT MOVE HERE! Where do I even begin? Our first day was chaos. When we got there to sign the lease, they didn't have anything ready as they had "forgotten" that we were moving in. (There were hardly any tenants at that point, so it was not a valid excuse). The amount we had in a cashiers check is the amount Ali had told us before our move in day, and when we got there, they made it more for x,y,z reasons that could have been made known to us PRIOR to that day but were not. Then, we got to our apartment and had to clean it before we could even move in! There was paint on the floors, and nothing was cleaned. They did not give us our "welcome packet" for weeks with our parking pass, property info, etc. NOT TO MENTION there is a homeless shelter right around the corner! We knew that going in, but they also assured us there would be security monitoring the building 24/7. THAT WAS A LIE!!! One night we were down in the Billiards room, when we saw a homeless man jump the fence to the pool area. He proceeded to use the grills and wash his hands in the pool! We immediately called the security, and they told us that they manage other properties and it might be A FEW HOURS before they could address the situation. THAT IS THE SECURITY WE WERE PAYING FOR?! Then another thing they told us when we were looking at the property was that this big green building behind our apartment was in the process of being demolished. LIES!!! Over a YEAR later and it is still there!!! And it brings questionable people right outside our windows. As far as the community goes, there are a lot of partiers that are always in the pools and other areas well passed 10pm drinking and making LOTS of noise. You often can smell weed in the hallways and stairs. THIS IS NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY COMPLEX. We were counting down the months, then days until we moved out. We were so ready to leave. We had made proper arrangements with Corey and Steve who were part of the previous management (who left just a few weeks before our last day) and the new management honored NOTHING. SO TO TOP OFF OUR EXPERIENCE, now we are stuck paying an additional month, parking, trash, fees when we don't even live there. We try to reach out to Amanda, and she does not email back or return calls. Do not move here unless you want to be taken advantage of.

Please don't rent here if you have any hope for your families and pets sanity or safety!

Review shortened for character limit; this place is too expensive for what you are getting, the location isn't that secure due to the access to the buildings or broken locks, ALWAYS loud, front office is apathetic. It all started the day we moved in: after a 10 hour drive into town, exhausted with lease in hand, needing help back to our unit because it was in another part of the building you need a key fob to access, and we didn't have a key fob to open those doors yet, we get screeched at with a loud "WE DON'T DO AIRBNB! WE AREN'T AIRBNB". Yeah, that's great, we don't do Airbnb and aren't Airbnb either, please let us back to our unit, we have a lease, but don't have a key fob, we're moving in and just need to get to our door, thanks. This set the stage for many horrid interactions to the point I tried to completely avoid them unless I had a package. I own a dog, I love dogs. There is an on-leash policy and there is also a rule to pick up after your pets, no one respects either. Dogs off their leash throughout complex and outside, regardless of their dog reactivity behaviour, which is not regulated at all, and can be an awful experience when running into bad dogs with bad owners. On a weekly basis, I was finding poo out in the hallways and stairways, having to pick it up with my own personal poo bags as the outdoor dispensers were often empty. It seems like there are dogs barking a lot, but as soon as your own dog lets out any noise (I have an old dog that literally sleeps 95% of the time), you're getting reported and getting a call from the office. Its a little ironic that the front office is basically completely useless except for if you've been reported for your dog barking, when there are plenty of other noise disturbances - like the guys who go out partying and on their way back yell the whole way down the hall while slamming shut the fire break doors in the middle of the hall. Those are really minor problems compared to the parvo outbreak that killed a few dogs and made many others really sick because most dogs in the complex are puppies and really susceptible to parvovirus. It was a pretty awful few months, more and more dogs got sick, and some of them passed away. I don't think the apartment handled that well at all. They bleached the small dog park once but I don't think they treated any other surfaces or did another bleaching - it was left up to the residents to follow around with a spray bottle of bleach any time their sick dogs had to potty.

Terrible location, rude staff, overpriced

Do not recommend! They dont honor lease terms, the staff is rude, unprofessional, and not ever helpful. The grounds and pool are nice. Most of the units are empty, this is an air bnb location so that comes with a lot of noisy tourists. Again, do not recommend.

Property Manager at Gateway 505 responded to this review

Hello, We sincerely apologize for any noise disturbances you have experienced. Please know that we are aware of this issue and are actively working on eliminating Air BnB in our community as resident peace and comfort is our priority. In the meantime, please direct noise disturbances to our leasing office during business hours, or after-hours to our security patrol at 801-985-9462. Additionally, if there are lease terms that you feel have not been honored, we urge you to contact our leasing office so that we can address your concerns. We look forward to hearing from you! Sincerely, The Alta Gateway Station team
